1         Introduction

This set of records catalogue some of the knowledge gained of the wider Marston community obtained whilst researching the Marstons of Birstwith. The records have been collated from the collections of the  1861 census where the resident was born in Yorkshire and lived in Yorkshire in 1861.

The purpose of the records is to act as a start point for people researching the Marstons of Yorkshire, rather than a definitive collection. That having been said, it is our intention to extend these records in the event that interest is shown and new records become available from external researchers. If anyone wishes to make a contribution or correct an error please contact the web site via pmarston2000@yahoo.co.uk .

In the tables entries relevant to distinct tribes of Marston have been colour coded. The following codes have been used.
