Sarah Reynard married George Towers and had the family shown below.

In 1841 George and Sarah are at Old Coats, Felliscliffe. After that they do not appear in any of the censuses relevant to the parish of Hampsthwaite.

William Reynard (1818-1892)

William Reynard married Mary Ann Harrison. Overall they produced nine children, the first five born in Knaresborugh, the later children born in Hampsthwaite.

In 1861 William is in Hampsthwaite as a blacksmith farmer. By 1871 William Reynard has moved to Hollins, Hampsthwaite with his family as a farmer of 9 acres. In 1881 William has his son Charles and granddaughter Maria living with him.

William and Mary Ann Reynard are buried in Hampsthwaite churchyard alongside their sons George and Harrison.

Reuben Reynard (1820-)

Reuben has set up a separate home in 1851 at the Hollings, Hampsthwaite. He is listed as an agricultural labourer. By 1861 Reuben has a wife, Ann Ellis, and three children. By 1871 the family has increased to five children, as shown below.

In 1881 Reuben only has Frances with him at Rowden Lane. Sarah and Ellen are at Victoria House, Rowden Lane, Sarah being a domestic servant. Interestingly in the 1881 census John Reynard is living in West Lane as son (head) whilst his mother, Ann, is a visitor in the village. In the 1891 census Reuben and Frances are still together at Rowden Lane, however Ann, Reuben’s wife and Sarah and Ellen are living with John in West Lane, Hampsthwaite. Reuben has Sarah back with him and Frances in 1901 at West Lane Hampsthwaite.

Reuben and Ann are buried in Hampsthwaite churchyard.

Ellen Reynard married William Appleby and produced the family shown below.

Joseph (1830-)

The younger Joseph Reynard appears in the 1861 census for Felliscliffe. By 1871 he has moved to Swarcliffe Top. He is married to Elizabeth Emsley (?) and has the family shown below.

By 1881 John William has taken over at Swarcliffe Top, whilst Joseph has moved to Kettlesing Road, Birstwith with his wife and children Hannah and Sarah Ellen. In 1891 Joseph is a widower and living at Cote Hill with his daughter Mary.

Josias married Mary Robinson in 1864 in Skipton and produced the family shown below.

The family must have moved several times. Alice was born in Holbeck. By 1871 the family were at Horsforth but had moved to Ilkley by 1881. From 1891 they were at Ganners Place, Bramley.

Reuben’s daughter Ellen has married a Hainsworth and is living with some of her children at Rowden Lane in John Reynard’s household in 1901
