Grandchildren of Thomas Marston, Children of Elizabeth Shepherd

Hudson (George) Marston (1872-1921)

Hudson Marston was the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Marston who later became Elizabeth Shepherd. Hudson kept the name Marston and later preferred to be known as George.

In the 1901 census he was at Sutton Coldfield with his wife Ann (nee Spence) and 3 sons Fred, William and Edward. Overall Hudson and Ann had 8 children all born at different locations due to his occupation as foreman on water projects.

The children were 

• Fred was born at Wydra, Fewston. Fred married C Dyson in 1917
• William was born at Brighouse. He married Dorothy Hellewell on 11th May 1935. William and Dorothy died 9 days apart in 1987 and are buried at Fewston Cemetery. There are photographs of their graves in the appendix.
• Edward was born at Upper Midhope, Bradfield, nr Sheffield. Edward married Lily Lund in the 1930's.
• Albert was born at Aston, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire. Albert married H Broadhead in October 1920.
• Mary Elizabeth was born at Shibden Mill Inn, Northowram, Halifax. Mary married A.E. Green on the 4th September 1926.
• Ernest was born at Small Clough Farm, Northowram, Halifax. Ernest married Mary Kershaw on 1st November 1934
• Gladys Evelyn was born at 27 Paliament Rd, Armley, Leeds. Gladys married H Holdsworth in the 1940's.
• Harry was born at Breary Banks, Healey, Masham. Harry married M Checkley on the 25th March 1931.

There are photographs of Hudson and his family, as well as William, Edward, Ernest and Harry  Marston in the appendix. Ernest married Mary Kershaw in 1935. They had two children, John born 1936 and Hazel born 1940. Hazel died of rheumatic fever when she was 8.

Harry married Mary Checkley and has three children Ivy, Ann and Sheila.

Hudson Marston Shepherd died on 29th December 1921 at Bolsterstone near Sheffield. Probate was granted at Wakefield on 10th February 1922 to Fred Marston, commercial clerk. His effects were £642 18s 1d. His wife Ann died on 20th November 1924 at Storth House, Bolsterstone. Probate was granted to her son Fred Marston, commercial clerk, at Wakefield on 4th June. Her effects were £89 8s 7d.

John Thomas Shepherd Binns (1873-1873)

Mary Shepherd Binns (1874-1898)

Mary died of appendicitis at Dr H.H. Clarkson's house "Southfield", Birstwith. Mary had been employed as a servant at Dr Clarkson's house. There is a remembrance card for Mary in the documents appendix.

David Binns Shepherd  (1876-)

David Shepherd married Florence E. Bradshaw, of Haydock, Lancashire, in 1907. The couple produced two children David and Charles, as shown below.

David later produced three more sons by Elizabeth Frankland nee Hardisty.

The Second Family of David Binns Shepherd

Elizabeth died on the 15th of May 1922 at 10 Waterloo St, Harrogate.

Ben married Nora Hannon on 20th September 1949.

Sarah Elizabeth Marjerrison nee Shepherd Binns (1877-1943)

Sarah married Fred Marjerrison on 31 Jan 1904 at Fewston. They produced two daughters as shown below.

Sarah and Fred are buried in Birstwith St James churchyard. There is a photograph of the grave in the appendix.

William Binns Shepherd (1879-)

William died in infancy.

Thomas Binns Shepherd (1882-)

Thomas married Gladys Irene Milnthorpe on 2nd Feb 1910. In the 1911 census they have a son William. They produced two children as shown below

Harry Binns Shepherd (1884-1952)

Harry married Jane Isabell Powell in January 1915. They had three daughters as shown below.
