The Family of Edward Marston (1792-)

The birth dates of the offspring are speculative based on the 1841 census since the church records for baptisms at Hampsthwaite are only available to circa 1800. The 1841 census lists a family headed by Edward at Tang, Birstwith but with Edward aged 45 rather than 49. On the other hand his wife’s age is 50 in the census which would seem more consistent with Edward being 49. The 1851 census has the family still at Birstwith, however Elizabeth is no longer listed with the family group, and is assumed to be dead. Edward's age is now listed as 58 which would be in line with the assumption that the age in the 1841 Census is wrong. At home at this time were Ellen, Mary and Edward.

Edward died on 16th August 1851 following accidentally being knocked down by a cow.

Sarah Marston 1799-
