First Generation : Henry Allerston & Sarah Bryan

From the 1861 census for Henry Allerston it is found that he was born in 1809 in Sewerby. A search of IGI finds a birth in 1809 of a Henry Allerston in Bridlington to Henry Allerston and Sarah Bryan. Henry Allerston and Sarah Bryan were married in Bridlington in 1803. Henry Allerston jnr had at least two other siblings, Robert and William. There is a Robert Allerston, of slightly older age, in the 1851 census born Sewerby. Also in the 1851 census there is an entry for a servant Henry Allerston, a widower born 1775 in Sewerby.

Sarah Bryan died in 1819 and Henry married a second time to Sarah Arnell. They had the family shown below.

Second Generation Henry Allerston & Jane Dalby

Elizabeth Allerston claims her birthplace as Barmston on censuses. Henry Allerston and Jane Dalby were married in Barmston providing the essential linkage.

The knowledge that we have about Henry and Jane’s family is gleaned from the 1861 census, the 1851 census being inconclusive. The known family is shown in Figure 36.
